Medicinal teas for treating sinusitis

Sinusitis is a condition of the sinuses that creates discomfort for many people, regardless of age.  There are two types of sinusitis: “wet” and dry”. The pain is felt in the head region and being specific to the affected sinus:

–  Maxillary sinusitis – it manifests through pain or pressure on both sides of the nose and it often radiates to the teeth. Headaches can also be present.

  • Chamomile tea has anti-inflammatory, antifungal, soothing and healing properties. To treat sinusitis is recommended to make inhalations of chamomile tea. You need a wide mouth jar where you fill it with 2 liters of hot water. Add 10 teabags of chamomile tea or a handful of dried herb. Place your head above the container with a towel over your head and inhale the steam for 15 minutes every night for a month.
  • Rosemary tea has strong anti-inflammatory and anti-infective properties. It penetrates deeply into the skin and the mucous membranes, increases local immunity, soothes and reduces pain. For inhalations of 15 minutes each day for a month, use two tablespoons of dried herb or 5 teabags in 2 liters of hot water.
  • Elder flower tea stimulates circulation, increases immunity of the nasal mucosa and has anti-inflammatory effect. For inhalations of 15 minutes each day for a month, use 2 liters of hot water you must use 5 teabags or two tablespoons of dried herb.
  • Inhalation with yarrow tea also is a treatment for sinusitis and can be done daily as the ones mentioned above. Inhalation must be done using 2 tablespoons of dried herb in 2 liters of hot water. Yarrow is externally used because of its healing and regenerative properties.
